Preparing Steam Offline Mode
To combat Steam Offline problems, we are asking everyone to run their Steam client in offline mode before the next LAN. Steam has to download from the Internet some extra files for offline mode to work, so if it has never gone into offline mode before, and someone tries to without the Internet, it will not work.
This is completely essential for games like Counter-Strike Source and Team Fortress 2.
Steam and Steam Game Updates
All of Steam dedicated servers will be updated up until 12:00 AM midnight the night before the LAN (12:00 AM Friday MAY 16, 2008). Any updates at 12:01 AM or later will not be downloaded. Please make sure you do not run Steam after this time.
A Steam client version that is not the same as the servers may stop the client from connecting to the game.
If you make sure you follow this guide, having no Internet will not be a problem at the next event.
